There are no distractions in the studio. It’s somewhere where I can completely lose myself in what I’m doing; my own zone where I can just ‘be’. Painting gives me a sense of freedom, wellbeing and contentment as well as excitement.
If I’m very busy with other things and can’t get in to paint, I feel very edgy and twitchy because the draw is so great. So my priority is to carve out that time. As the days get shorter, I like to get started as early as possible. Good heating and lighting enable me to work there throughout the winter. We bought the house primarily for the garden. Having my own studio is a huge bonus which I’m so grateful for. It’s pure joy! |
